Abstract
Cancer is the most prevailing disease to cause death after cardiovascular diseases. According to 2012 survey 14.1 million lives were affected with cancer and by 2030 it is anticipated to affect 22 million lives. Cancer is a group of heterogeneous disease characterized by uncontrolled division of the abnormal cells. Chalcones are the organic compounds that constitute two aromatic rings joined by alpha-beta unsaturated carbonyl moiety and demonstrate broad range of biological activities including antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, antiulcer, antimalarial, antihypertensive, cytotoxic and anticancer activity. The substituents on the two aromatic rings play a vital role in their ability to interact with cellular targets. In the present work, we have focused on the aminochalcones and have prepared a concise library through a synthetic route consisting of Aromatic Nucleophilic Substitution reaction and Claisen Schmidt Condensation reaction. The compounds were characterized by NMR andIR spectroscopy and will be evaluated for their biological profile.
