Celebrating Dr. Muhammad Saeed's Tenure Conferral – Congratulations!
It is with a great deal of pleasure that I can let you know that Dr Muhammad Saeed has been granted Tenure in the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering.
Dr. Saeed received his PhD degree in organic chemistry from the Eberhard-Karl University of Tübingen, Germany under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Voelter. He then joined the research group of Prof. Ercole Cavalieri at the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He also worked as a visiting assistant professor and postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemistry, University of Iowa, before joining LUMS in 2014 as an Associate Professor.
At LUMS, Dr. Saeed established the Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry group in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. His current research interests lie at the interface of chemistry and biology, i.e. solving the problems of biology using the tools of organic chemistry. He pursues rational antiviral and anticancer drug design and discovery by using state-of-the-art computational modelling, supported by conventional organic synthesis and high-throughput screening of synthetic compounds and natural products. His research work is highly cited. He is also a greatly esteemed teacher at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, with three PhD students and thirteen MS students graduating under his supervision.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Saeed and wishing him all the best for the future!
