We are delighted to announce the promotion of Dr. Basit Yameen to the rank of Full Professor with tenure at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE). Dr. Yameen has made exceptional contributions in the field of polymer chemistry, being recognized as a Polymer Chemistry Pioneering Investigator by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

Dr. Yameen joined LUMS in 2010 after earning his PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. He proceeded on a prestigious Humboldt Fellowship at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2012 and later joined Harvard Medical School and MIT as a postdoctoral fellow. Since his return to LUMS in 2016, Dr.

Yameen has built an outstanding research portfolio with over 7,500 citations and an h-index of 36. His pioneering contributions to polymer science have driven innovation in health, energy, and environmental sustainability.

During his tenure as Chair of the department, Dr. Yameen helped establish the Chemical Engineering program at LUMS. He co-founded SUFTECH Innovations, a venture dedicated to plastic waste upcycling, which successfully secured over 66 million PKR in funding from the Green Challenge Fund by Karandaaz. He also initiated the Research Internships in Science & Engineering (RISE) program to promote STEM education among high school students creating meaningful impact.
