SBASSE Partners with COMSTECH - An Azerbaijani Researcher’s Quest for Knowledge

In a momentous stride towards fostering international collaboration and academic exchange, the SBA School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) proudly welcomes Fargana Alizada, a talented scientific researcher and PhD student from Baku, Azerbaijan. This exciting partnership is part of LUMS' ongoing commitment to promote internationalization and its joint venture with COMSTECH, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation. 
At SBASSE, Fargana will be working closely with the renowned faculty member, Dr Nauman Zafar Butt, in the Central Lab at SBASSE from June, 10th to July, 26th 2023. The lab provides an ideal platform for Fargana to gain hands-on training in cutting-edge scientific techniques, including Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis, thin film growth using Physical Vapor Deposition, and Optical lithography for microstructure patterning.

With an impressive track record of over three years in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, and Engineering Research, Fargana brings a wealth of expertise to SBASSE. Currently affiliated with esteemed institutions in Azerbaijan, she holds positions as a scientific researcher at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of Azerbaijan at the National Academy of Sciences, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, and Baku State University
Simultaneously, Fargana is enrolled in a PhD program at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes under the Azerbaijan Science and Education Ministry. Her specialization lies in Chemical Technology and Engineering, an area poised to make significant contributions to various industries. 
This partnership holds great promise not only for Fargana’s professional growth but also for the LUMS community. Through her extensive knowledge and professional experiences, Alizada will facilitate the exchange of scientific ideas and solutions, creating an atmosphere of innovation and intellectual collaboration within the lab.
