About the workshop
Process Safety Management (PSM) is the core of occupational health and safety programs in any industry. This program will enable the knowledge base necessary to create and implement effective awareness which is lacking in many small and large businesses. In this course, you will learn the basic elements of a properly designed program and the basics of how PSM and Risk Management Plans work together. You’ll learn how to correctly create process safety management and risk management plans to protect your community. You will also learn how effective management of chemicals which include gases or liquids that are flammable, toxic, or reactive— employers can prevent serious harm to workers and the public.

Dr. Faheem Hassan Akhtar
Assistant Professor, SBASSE, LUMS
Dr. Faheem Akhtar possesses over 18 years of extensive experience in process safety, spanning academic research, industrial application, and professional training. He has a proven track record of leading safety engineering initiatives on major international projects within the process and services sectors. His work involves the development and implementation of comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) systems, aligning with best practices and international standards. At LUMS, he leads the safety efforts for SBASSE, architecting and embedding robust chemical process safety protocols to cultivate a best-in-class safety culture.
Muhammad Eaitsam Akram, CSP
Safety Lead, SBASSE, LUMS
Muhammad Eaitsam Akram is a safety expert with a background in chemical engineering and over a decade of professional experience. He has worked with leading organizations in Pakistan and the Middle East to design and implement comprehensive safety management systems, with a strong focus on risk assessment, HAZOP, and the prevention of fire and explosion incidents.
In his current role as School Safety Lead at LUMS, he leverages his expertise to foster a safe environment for research and learning. He also conducts impactful safety training sessions and workshops for both internal teams and external organizations, combining technical knowledge with practical insights to strengthen safety culture.
