SPADES Sets a New Benchmark with Dual Wins at LUMS Society Awards 2025
The student-led society SPADES has emerged as a standout force this year, securing two major accolades at the LUMS Society Awards 2025, a testament to its extraordinary momentum, bold programming, and visionary leadership.
Mega Event Excellence Award
Awarded to the society with the most outstanding large-scale event, this recognition was earned for PsiFi , SPADES’ flagship science and technology competition. This year’s edition of PsiFi became the largest event of its kind in LUMS history, welcoming over 350 teams and 1,400+ participants from across Pakistan and beyond. Featuring international collaborations and widespread engagement, PsiFi was lauded for its seamless planning, impactful execution, and inclusive outreach.
Leadership Excellence Award
SPADES President Muhammad Ibrahim Farrukh received the Leadership Excellence Award for demonstrating exceptional leadership, strategic delegation, and resilience throughout the year. His direction was instrumental in expanding society’s vision and unlocking new opportunities for students.
The recognition celebrates not only the leadership but also the collective effort of the SPADES general body. Notable contributors to the society’s success this year include Fatima Abaid, Haseeb Asad, Muhammad Bin Khalid, Abdullah Bin Faisal, Eman Nabeel, Izza Naseer, Maniha Inam, Ahsan Usman, Muhammad Saram Hassan, Hamza Bin Mubeen, Fahd Ibrahim Bhatti, and Shariq Kazmi.
SPADES’ remarkable year extended far beyond its award-winning events. Among its key initiatives:
Launch of a rocketry program aimed at hands-on science engagement.
UPLIFT AI, a high school internship in partnership with an international AI startup.
Women in STEM, a dedicated program to foster inclusivity in science fields.
The society’s achievements have been supported by faculty and staff from across the university, including the Dean of SBASSE, Dr. Walther, and colleagues from the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and Campus Community and Advancement (CCA).
This marks a record-breaking year for SPADES, one that not only celebrated science and student leadership but also expanded the frontiers of what’s possible in co-curricular engagement at LUMS.
