We are delighted to share that Dr. Aeysha Khalique has been appointed as the new Chair of the Department of Physics at LUMS. Her four-year term will run until 2029. She succeeds Dr. Adam Zaman, whose thoughtful leadership and contributions to the department are sincerely appreciated.

Dr. Khalique joined LUMS as an Associate Professor in the Physics Department last summer, following a distinguished career at NUST Islamabad, where she also served as Department Chair. She holds a PhD from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany, and is recognised for her exceptional work as a theoretical and computational physicist, particularly in Quantum Information Science. Her international academic engagements include visiting professorships at the University of Calgary, Canada, and the National University of Science and Technology, China.

We are confident that under Dr. Khalique’s leadership, the Department of Physics will continue to flourish and strengthen its national and international academic collaborations.

We also extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Adam Zaman for his innovative and dedicated service as Chair. Special appreciation goes to the search committee—Dr. Muhammad Faryad, Dr. Sabieh Anwar, and Dr. Adnan Khan—for their thoughtful and diligent efforts in the selection process.

We warmly congratulate Dr. Khalique on this new appointment and look forward to the department’s continued success.
