Abstract
We study an initial boundary value problem that involves a functional differential equation of the Pantograph type. The equation arises in a size-structured cell growth model. We discuss possible techniques, including the Laplace and Mellin transforms, that can be employed to solve the problem. We also consider the second-order analogue of the first-order model and discuss its solutions.
