Dr Naveed Arshad Honoured with the Prestigious Pride of Performance Award

On the significant day of 23rd March 2024, Dr Naveed Arshad, an esteemed Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, was among the recipients of the prestigious Pride of Performance award. This accolade, bestowed by the President of Pakistan, celebrates outstanding contributions in the realms of art, science, literature, sports, and nursing (medicine).

In a ceremony held at the Governor House Lahore, the Governor of Punjab, Mr Baligh Ur Rehman (left), presented the accolade to Dr Naveed Arshad (right) on behalf of the President of Pakistan. 

 

As the Director of the National Center in Big Data and Cloud Computing (NCBC), the founder of the Energy Informatics Group, and the Co-Director of the LUMS Energy Institute at SBASSE, Dr Naveed Arshad has been at the forefront advancing  big data, cloud computing, and sustainable energy solutions in the region.  
His significant contributions, both in Pakistan and globally, were prominently cited as the foundation for his recognition before the prestigious award was conferred upon him:   

“His research interests include energy and climate informatics, electric vehicles, policy and entrepreneurship. Dr. Arshad has published close to seventy research articles in top international journals and conferences. He has also authored PRECON, the most comprehensive open residential energy data collection in the world. He has also contributed significantly to the development of the National Electric Vehicle Policy and is leading an effort to bring low-cost electric vehicles in the country. 
He is the co-founder of multiple start-up companies in big data, energy analytics and electric vehicle domains. In addition to publishing in top ranked journals and conferences, Dr. Arshad has also authored many reports and white papers for advocacy and evidence-based policy recommendations.”
