The Department of Physics at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) invites applications for open faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels on a tenure-track system. Candidates must have completed their PhD in Physics or related discipline from a reputed local or foreign university.
The Department of Physics has established basic research programmes in spin physics, condensed matter physics, quantum control, optics, nano-photonics, and mathematical physics. The successful applicant is expected to develop an internationally recognised research programme in his/her area of interests. The Department particularly seeks candidates with strong interests and expertise in the following:
- High Energy Physics
- Theoretical and Computational Condensed Matter Physics
- Fundamental Theoretical Physics
- Emerging Areas in Physics
It is expected that the candidate will contribute to the teaching of physics courses within the undergraduate and graduate programmes in Physics. Candidates must have strong potential and passion to develop a globally competitive research programme of his/her own interest, with a vision to address national problems, in addition to addressing fundamental questions in Science and Technology. LUMS provides seed funds to develop such research programmes, in addition to providing state-of-the-art research infrastructure and a conducive teaching and research environment. Candidates should also possess a strong passion for teaching. Selected candidates will be required to teach both undergraduate and graduate students.
