  • LUMS, Tufts, and MSU Researchers Develop an Ultra Low Latency Datacenter Network

     Dr. Ihsan Ayyub Qazi, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, LUMS along with his students Syed M. Irteza and Ghufran Baig have devised a new system called PASE. The group  also included Ali Munir and Dr. Alex Liu from Michigan State University and Dr. Fahad R. Dogar from Tufts University.     Prof. Babar Qureshi was an invited speaker at International Scientific Spring (ISS) 2016 organised by National Center for Physics (NCP).ISS is one of the largest yearly gathering of physicists in Pakistan and is attended by local and international participants. The meeting's format consists of lectures on latest developments in Physics.   • Physics Faculty Talks About Gravitational Waves at GCU

    LUMS Physics faculty, Dr. Babar Qureshi was invited by the Jones Physics Society of Government College University (GCU), Lahore to talk about the physics of gravitational waves. GCU VC, Prof. Hassan Ameer Shah was also in attendance during the talk. On the occasion, Dr. Babar Qureshi met the VC Prof. Hassan Shah, the Salam Chair Prof. Ghulam Murtaza and other professors to discuss recent developments in physics and appraised them of the teaching and research efforts going on at the Department of Physics at LUMS.

    LUMS Physics faculty, Babar Qureshi in collaboration with Amer Iqbal and LUMS graduate, Ali Shehper, as well as a LUMS research assistant, Ahsan Khan have published an important result on Topological String Theory.     A mainstay of the Physics course, Electricity & Magnetism, which was taught by Physics faculty, Muhammad Sabieh Anwar in fall 2014, were the nearly dozen demonstrations that were developed throughout the span of the course.
