Abstract
Dr. Naweed Syed's Lab was the first in the world to connect brain cells to a computer chip and this study was highlighted in Time Magazine and the Discovery Channel. His research now makes it possible to connect the brain with electronic devices and holds the promise of developing brain controlled prosthetics; restoring vision and regaining lost brain function resulting from brain damage.

Biography
Dr. Naweed Syed has published over 130 research papers in top scientific journals such as Nature, Science, Neuron, Journal of Neuroscience etc. and has been the recipient of several national and international awards - including Tumgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan. Dr. Syed is the Scientific Director of Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute.
