Dr Sultan Sial received the MSc. Mathematics degree from Carleton University and the PhD. degree in Applied Mathematics from University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1992 and 1997. Prior to joining LUMS, he has been associated with the University of Toronto, he University of Western Ontario, Trent University, and Los Alamos National Lab (LANL). Dr Sial also has corporate sector experience; he has been the Vice President (Research) of Heuchera Technologies, and Vogelfrei Analytics. He has several publications, a book and book chapter in leading international journals.
Dr Riaz Ahmad (Overseas Visiting Faculty)
Riaz holds the degrees of BSc., MSc., PhD, in mathematics, from King’s College London, Imperial College London and University College London, in turn. He has completed postdoctoral work at Imperial College and University of Oxford. Riaz has been working for the financial services sector since 2003; and been lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels since 2005 at University College London where he has developed a number of BSc and MSc modules including a Financial Engineering minor. Riaz has been visiting LUMS since 1998 where he has taught at the BSc., MBA and executive education levels. He has also taught at IBA, Karachi.
Dr Adnan Khan (LUMS Faculty)
Adnan Khan was awarded his Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in NY in 2007.Prior to joining LUMS he has taught at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and University of Delaware. He has also been associated with Fitch Learning as a Tutor for the Certificate in Quantitative Finance. His current research interests involve quantitative finance, modeling and analysis of biological systems, multiscale modeling and asymptotic analysis.
Dr Azmat (LUMS Faculty)
Azmat Hussain recently completed his PhD in Operations Research from Operations Research program of College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. He received his BS and MS in Mathematics from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad. Prior to commencing his PhD, he taught in the department of mathematics at Karakoram International University Gilgit,Gilgit-Baltistan.
Dr Ferhana Ahmad (LUMS Faculty)
Dr Ferhana Ahmad is an Assistant Professor at Suleman Dawood School of Business in the area of Mathematical and Computational Finance. She has a DPhil and MSc in Mathematical and Computational Finance from University of Oxford, England. She was an Associate Member of Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance at University of Oxford. She was also the student representative on the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division’s Divisional Graduate Joint Consultative Forum and a graduate student representative on Consultative Committee for Graduates, Mathematical Institute at University of Oxford. Her areas of interest are in modeling mortgage and mortgage-backed securities, energy and credit derivatives, numerical simulations and stochastic calculus.
Ferhana has keen interest in photography and loves to travel and explore cultures in her leisure time.
